I have been writing as a music and culture journalist for eight years, mainly as the Deputy Editor of Songlines, the leading world music magazine based in London, UK. My articles have also appeared in several other publications including The Guardian blog, Wanderlust magazine and Paa Tanzania.

I mainly write about international culture, music and travel. I have an MMus in Ethnomusicology from SOAS and my particular areas of interest are women in music, music and politics, sacred music, and ecstatic music. My work includes features, interviews, reviews and news pieces. I have travelled extensively, interviewing artists in their homes (from the Gambia to South Korea) and covering international music festivals (from Xalapa, Mexico to the jungle of Borneo).
